Another Rosie Update

Hi all, πŸ™‚

I have some exciting and disheartening news considering Rosie the duck. I will start with the bad news. Rosie’s eggs did hatch and she had eight gorgeous ducklings, and of course you must realize that I did say had. While her little ducklings were growing up they were sadly snatched away from us way to soon. A few of them were snatched away by a hungry Osprey who needed some lunch, and sadly the others were snatched away by greedy cats who wanted dinner. This news is very sad for all who followed Rosie’s story, but! I did also say that this update also would include some exciting news as well. πŸ™‚ The exciting news is Β that……..ONE duckling still lives on!!!!! YES, this news is splendid. πŸ™‚ The last Buff Orpington duckling still lives on and is rapidly growing to be a wonderful duck! πŸ˜€ Yet, the good news still goes on!!! Rosie is having yet another litter of ducklings! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hopefully these ducklings will not share the same fate as the others before them had. Β They should hatch sometime in late July early August. Sadly I will not be here to see them hatch, because I will be on Vacation, but as soon as I get back I will be sure to send you peeps another update!! πŸ˜€ Before I go I want to show you all a picture of Rosie with her first little ducklings. πŸ™‚

A Rosie Update

Hi everyone I wanted to give you all an update on Rosie the duck. I visited the pond today and she waddled up to me quacking for some food. Ironically I had left my duck cookies inside of my bike basket. As I walked back to my bike to retrieve them, Rosie followed me halfway then she retreated to her nest thinking that she was not going to receive any cookies that day. When I returned from my bike, Rosie was off with her friends enjoying a nice cold swim. While I waited for her to return I was able to get a good look at her nest and her eggs. There were about three to five eggs but, I couldn’t be sure. I was able to snap a decent picture of the eggs, it is not the best but, you are able to see a couple of the eggs. Β Pic below πŸ™‚

Her nest was deep inside of a bush. For a while I could not find Rosie or her nest but, one day my mother informed me that she spotted Rosie sneaking back into a certain bush that was next to the pond, (the same bush that her nest was in). The next day I was eager to check out the bush and sure enough there she was sitting quietly on her nest of eggs. Β  But, anyway coming back to the present, once Rosie saw me return from retrieving the cookies she happily swam over to her nest quickly. She jumped up on the bank and ran to swipe some cookies. She was very happy to know that she was going to nibble some cookies that day! Here is a picture of my visit with Rosie today.
